During National Preparedness Month in September, our staff had the opportunity to participate in the Regional Water Providers Consortium's equipment drill on the Clackamas River. This regional exercise provided our team with a unique learning experience on emergency water treatment and distribution, allowing them to collaborate and gain insights from their colleagues across the region. #DrinkingWater #EmergencyPreparedness

National Water Quality Month reminds us about the importance of protecting water quality in our rivers and streams. During August, many residents are outdoors enjoying summer recreational activities involving water before the fall weather returns to our area. OLWS is dedicated to reducing pollution in local waterways caused by stormwater runoff, the number one source of water pollution in Oregon. OLWS protects and enhances water quality by providing wastewater treatment services, watershed protection, and environmental education. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gBGjSNAN

We're asking customers to participate in the “Fish On the Run, Irrigation Done” annual watering campaign. This helps the Clackamas River by reducing or shutting-off outdoor watering in September for the fall fish migration. ☀️ According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, currently Clackamas, Oregon is abnormally dry and drought conditions are likely to develop over the next 3 months. The current conditions highlight the need for increased efficiency in water use, which lowers consumption and conserves our available water resources the Clackamas River. 💧 In addition to providing drinking water to over 300,000 people, the Clackamas River is home to migrating salmon and steelhead virtually year-round. As our summers are getting longer and hotter, making sure there is enough water in the river for the fall fish runs is becoming more challenging. 🐟 You can participate in the “Fish On the Run, Irrigation Done” campaign by reducing or shutting-off your outdoor watering system in September. This will ensure there is enough water for Fall Chinook and Coho Salmon to migrate and spawn this fall in the Clackamas River. The more water we can conserve the easier this journey will be for these threatened and endangered salmon species. 💙Take the pledge and receive a yard sign to let your neighbors know you’re doing your part to keep water in the Clackamas River: https://lnkd.in/gHkyP8Sx
