Wastewater Collection System Overflows at Three Locations
(December 28, 2022) - UPDATE - All overflows ceased by 6:30 P.M. on December 27, 2022.
(December 27, 2022) - Heavy rains have impacted the Oak Lodge Water Services wastewater collection system in three areas causing overflows to Kellogg Creek, the Willamette River, and the Glen Echo Wetlands. Overflows are infrequent but can occur during extreme weather. The overflows affecting Kellogg Creek and the Willamette River began on December 27, 2022, at around 12:01 A.M., and the overflow affecting the Glen Echo Wetlands was reported on December 27, 2022, at 9:30 A.M. The overflows are currently ongoing.
During an overflow and 48 hours afterward, the public is advised to avoid contact with the creek, the river, and wetlands because of potentially increased contaminants in the water. Staff has placed signs at the spill sites to inform the public to avoid contact with the affected areas.
